Chapter Philanthropy

As Sigma Kappa's we hold philanthropy very near and dear to our hearts. Our members strive to stay in touch with our community by averaging ten hours of service, per member, each semester. Therefore, as a chapter, we log roughly 1,000 plus hours in a single semester alone.

Alpha Delta recognizes the importance of serving our community, providing community awareness and education about our National Philanthropies, and raising money to benefit our cause. As a chapter we take part in and host many different service projects on campus and in our community in the hopes of making an impact and providing knowledge to those we come in contact with.

Our biggest campus event is the Spaghetti dinner, which is held in the Spring every year. It is certainly a favorite amongst our sisters and the individuals who come out and support, because it is a night where you can enjoy endless pasta, breadsticks, and dessert and simply hangout with your friends. This past year we raised over $5,000, and that goes directly to the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Association, because all of the food is donated by our amazing chefs and chapter members!

Sigma Kappa's main philanthropy, Gerontology with an emphasis on Alzheimer's Disease Research, is very important to our chapter, as this disease has impacted many of our members and their families. Every spring and fall we participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and this fall it was hosted at the Knoxville Zoo. Chapter members had a chance to walk with other members of the community and raise money through a push day which was extremely successful because we contributed over $11,000 to the total $122,000 raised!
